Mission Statement:

To promote our tradition of excellence, school spirit, sportsmanship, and character we recognize outstanding athletic accomplishments from our Payson High School family who exemplify these virtues.

Introduction

Induction into the Payson High School Athletics Hall of Fame is a great honor. It represents our highest values of excellence, school spirit, sportsmanship, and good character. Below, you will find the criteria that qualify someone for consideration. Please read all of the following before nominating an individual for the Hall of Fame. You will notice that there are four categories to which someone can be nominated.

Purpose

The purpose of the Payson High School Athletic Hall of Fame is to honor PHS athletes who have achieved great athletic accomplishments. Induction into the ranks of PHS Athletic Hall of Fame is a great honor. It represents our highest values of excellence, school spirit, sportsmanship, and character. Hall of Fame members are to be exemplars and role models. Our hope is that publically honoring these individuals will inspire the current generation of student-athletes to pursue lives of the highest caliber and not set limits on what they can accomplish.

Nominating Someone

New members will be inducted once per year. All nominations must be received by October 15th of each year to be considered for the current school year. During the school year the Distinguished Alumni committee will meet and select the year’s nominees. These nominees and/or their closest living relatives will be invited to an induction dinner in the spring to be recognized and honored. Please note that Distinguished Alumni members may be removed if it is discovered that their nomination was fraudulent or the individual displays behavior unbecoming that of a PHS distinguished alumnus, including but not limited to criminal behavior.

If a nominated individual is not selected during the year of nomination, the nomination will remain in active consideration for two more years (for a total of three years). If after three years the individual has not been inducted, they may be re-nominated.
