PHS Hall of Fame: Distinguished Alumni

Mission Statement:

To promote our tradition of excellence, leadership, service, and character we recognize outstanding accomplishments from our Payson High School family who exemplify these virtues.

The purpose of the Payson High School Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame is to honor PHS alumni who have gone on to achieve great accomplishments after graduating. This may include in such arenas as: academic scholarship; professional life; service to the community, state, nation, or world; athletic accomplishment in sports other than sanctioned UHSAA sports; etc.

Induction into the ranks of Payson High School Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame is a great honor. It represents our highest values of excellence, leadership, service, and character. Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame members are to be exemplars. Our hope is that publically honoring these individuals will inspire the current generation of students to pursue lives of the highest caliber and not set limits on what they can accomplish.

Nominating Someone

With the above ideals in mind, we do not have a specific list of criteria. Any individual who has achieved great accomplishment in life so as to bring honor to our school community is eligible for nomination. It is the job of the selection committee to determine whether the achievements of individual nominees merit their recognition as exemplars and role models in this elite group.

The committee meets once per year to review the year’s nominations, deliberate, and vote on inducting new members to the Hall of Fame. New inductees are then honored at a special event. If a nominee is not selected for induction, their name will remain in active consideration for two more years. Persons can be re-nominated after three years have elapsed. Please note that Distinguished Alumni members may be removed from the Hall of Fame if it is discovered that their nomination was fraudulent or the individual displays behavior unbecoming of a PHS distinguished alumnus, including but not limited to criminal behavior.

This first year of creating the Hall of Fame, nominations will be open until October 15. In subsequent years, the nomination window will be open from January 1 to February 15. To nominate a PHS graduate to the Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame, please follow the link below.
