Penny Wars Assembly Raises More Than $900

Submitted by katie.kelly on

On November 6, Payson High School’s student council put on an assembly to kick off the annual ‘Penny Wars’. Written to resemble the famous “Twas the Night Before Christmas” poem, the assembly held everyone’s attention as the school laughed while raising money for families in our community. The school was blessed with performances from the Dance Co. and Cheerleaders, the chaos of the Mansetters, and the talent of our student council. During the relay, the crowd cheered for their class, or just cheered for the scandalous kisses under the mistletoe.

The week started with a vote for the best poster, followed by best cake, and finally best legs. On Thursday, each contestant gave a short speech at the Red Ribbon assembly. Friday, however, was the day everyone was waiting for- The Mr. Payson Pageant.

Payson High School Pipe Band Attends Scottish Festival

Submitted by katie.kelly on

This weekend our PHSPB attended the Moab Scottish Festival. Students were able to learn how a festival works. They learned about the different bands, vendors, and other events that happen at a Festival. Some of these students got their pipes and drums just barely at the beginning of the school year. They did amazing playing in massed bands with the other adult bands! Great job PHSPB. Go Lions!
