The Lions Basketball team is hoping to make the Lion’s Den roar this year.  With the home opener on November 26, the season is almost upon us.  Lead by Coach Dan Lunt and his five seniors, the team has the ability to win the state title.

The Lions have many strengths this year that will help them achieve their goal of becoming state champions.

“They play hard all the time, share the ball extremely well, and get along together,” Lunt said.

This comes as no surprise to us with the Lions team, on and off the court you see them as good friends and never fighting with each other.  This quality could help the Lions have one of the most successful seasons in Payson basketball history.

Before the season has even started, you can tell that this team is very unselfish and willing to share the ball.

“Every one of them, every player has a role and is just as important as another when they step on the floor,” Lunt said.

Seeing this, you will know that Lunt’s players will have the mindset to be unselfish and to give it all they have when they step on the floor.

Goals are something that every team has, and this team is not an exception, their goal will be hard to reach but very possible.

“Win a state championship, we have enough quality kids and players that we can contend for a state title,” Lunt said.

This goal isn’t far out of reach for the Lions, with the quality players and quality coach, who has already taken two teams to a state title game, the Lions could be bringing home the title this year. Goals are just made from making the goal, it takes hard work, sweat and determination.

“We have to play hard, and leave it all out on the court,” Dallon Neves said.

So cheer on the Lions this year as they compete for the title this year.
