The Color of our Blood

Green: the color of vigor and strength. Memories of Payson High School engulf our minds when we see this glorious shade of life. When you walk into Payson High, you are bombarded by the onslaught of Verde plastered around the halls. This color may strike fear into their hearts of other schools, yet for us, it fills us with determination and faith. We have to ask ourselves why? Why does it have this affect on us when we go to school sports games? Why do we love this color?

The reason is that green isn’t just a color to us, it’s a belief. A lifestyle. To us, we embrace this color as we become a PHS lion. When we wear our bold colors, we show the world that we will wear our beliefs bravely and courageously, even when we have different schools, people, and facts telling us that isn’t worth ourthe time and energy. They might tear us down by asking, “Why waste time on something that’s not worthwhile?” WRONG! They may tell us that we aren’t on their level, or that we can’t accomplish the things they have. But how do we respond to their cries? We stand as a pride, as a family, and we band together with the shade that is pulsing through our veins: green.

When you wear the green of PHS, you show that you will always honor your values and beliefs as a Payson Llion even after you leave this school and disband after school hours. You will always be a lion, not just because of how you behave, but because it’s the way PHS inspired you to be.

Green: the attitude of a student, the strength of a lion, and the faith we have in our school and in each other. Green is and will always be the color of our blood.
