It's Showtime

Payson High School has always been known for their incredible student section and for always being involved in every sporting event, but there is one sport that tops just about all of them when it comes to attendance. A sport that gives a different meaning to entertainment, a sport that can go from 0-60 in a blink of an eye, and a sport that causes it’s fans to make the whole building quake. If you haven’t guessed it yet, then obviously you have never been to a single one of these games. I’m talking about the next generation of showtime basketball. The one and the only Payson City League Basketball (or better known as Junior Jazz).

The thing that separates Junior Jazz from every other sport is that everyone can be involved. It doesn’t matter whether you are a player or a fan, what makes Junior jazz the way it is is the people that are involved. Another thing that makes Junior Jazz stand out is the fact that there are no tryouts to be part of a team. In fact, you can make your own team. Just pay 12 separate purchases of $30 or depending on how many people will be on your team and divide split the difference of the $360. Junior Jazz can also cause both the players and the fans to get very heated towards one another. Most people say it is the referees that cause all of the controversy, but what we must all remember is that the refs aren’t perfect and in the end, it's just a game.

So far the season has brought a ton of talent and has created an atmosphere that is both creative and entertaining. In fact, the Boston Celtics point guard Kyrie Irving once stated that “Basketball isn’t a game, it’s an art from.” Most of us can agree that is definitely what basketball is, but in the end it’s just a game that brings us together to help us become better people, better sportsman, and to become as one. I know this season will be great and can’t wait to see what this season has in store for these upcoming weeks.
