Payson Lions put a beat down on rival football opponent Salem Hills SkyHawks, September 8.
The Lions dressed in all black uniforms were poised from the beginning. They started the game off with an onside kick and from that point on there was no looking back. They pounded the Skyhawks to the ground the Lions were breaking off huge runs all night. Their defense was also strong shutting the Skyhawks out in the first half and allowing only 13 points in the second half, beating the Skyhawks 28-13 for their senior night. Some of the players had this to say about the game. “I am excited to talk trash for the rest of my life!” said Seth Thompson.
“I was filled with excruciating excitement, and I was ready to roll on the river of love,” said Tyson Allsop. “I cried a river of happy tears,” said Kayson Sheppard. The following week the Lions had a bye going into the Uintah game trying to clinch a playoff spot. The Lions didn’t have much trouble with the Ute’s outscoring them 49-27 clinching third place in region eight and a playoff spot. They will play at Mountain Crest High School this Friday in Logan at 4pm.
