A Little Christmas Spirit

Submitted by kate.searle on

Tis the season of giving, receiving and loving. Almost everyone can agree, unless you’re a real scrooge, that this time of year is filled with a lot more joy and love than the other 11 months of the year. Everyone is in the spirit of giving and looking for ways to show you care about someone. It’s definitely a special time. Why do you think kids love Christmas the most out of all the holidays? It may start because they get presents, but there is more to it there is a different feel in the air this time of year.

There’s a reason that schools take weeks off for Christmas, there isn’t any other holliday that schools will shut down for that long, not one. It’s because this is the holiday that brings together family and friends.  Kennedy Williams said, “ooh, my siblings and I sleep downstairs in sleeping bags for fun.” Christmas brings together families that might not do much together, and makes them want to do things with each other. Emily Howarth said,”My family has Christmas Eve dinner at my great grandparents house!” Once again Christmas is bringing people together.

Let’s not forget what Christmas is all about, the season of giving. Whether you’re giving a little or a lot, it doesn’t matter. The giving of gifts to family, friends, or even people you might not even know. There’s always places to donate, especially around Christmas time. In front of Walmart there are places to donate your spare change, there’s tons of toy and clothing drives always looking for donations, and there are soup kitchens where you can donate money but you can donate time too. There’s so many opportunities to give this time of year, and that is a big way you can keep the Christmas spirit in your mind and heart.

As Christmas rolls around please remember why we celebrate Christmas. Keep in mind those you love, and those who are in need of love. There are so many people out there who want to feel Christmas in their hearts and with your help we can share that spirit with everyone. So keep your eyes open for those that you can help in anyway possible. With the right attitude and some good Christmas spirit we can change many hearts.
