On March 14, four girls boarded a plane that went across the country to the Big Apple. Kalee Doyle, Emily Shaw, Nicole Kunzler and McKenzie Stubbs had the opportunity to take a breathtaking tour of New York City and participate in the 2013 Nebo Fashion Tour.

Payson High students were joined by Salem, Maple Mountain and Spanish Fork. Because it was a fashion/design tour, we were able to tour FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology), and see how fashion has changed over a century.

Not only did the girls get to tour the big city, we got to see the Statue of Liberty (not the small one from Vegas), the Empire State Building and Radio City Music Hall.

“The experience was priceless,” said Emily Shaw. “It’s definitely something everyone needs to experience.”

Five days in New York City was amazing, from seeing all the sights to trying all kinds of food, it was an experience these girls will remember for a long time to come, with an emphasis on the food.

“I loved the cheesecake; it was the perfect combination of caramel and cheesecake. But seriously, you have to try it to understand,” said Nicole Kunzler.

Walking was a huge part of seeing the sights. In ways of transportation, we walked and took the subway, which was always very crowded. The streets were always full of people.  We met all kinds of people, from tourists like ourselves to Brooklyn boys to claustrophobic Germans.

“I loved seeing the diversity in the streets,” said Kalee Doyle.

This experience was one of a kind and will be remembered for years to come. The trip was a great way to leave Payson and see a little bit of a big city, completely different from Payson, Utah.

“I liked meeting people, seeing Broadway and just being with my best friends,” said Nicole Kunzler.

We were lucky enough to see the beautiful city in all kinds of weather, but mainly we froze.

“It was cold, wet and rainy, but we were still in New York City having a good time,” said Mrs. Thomas.
