The Payson High Cross Country team participated in a pre-region meet Aug. 31 at Spanish Fork.  A pre-cursor to the region championships, the team’s second place win, just 4 points under Juab High School, puts the team in a good position to take the region title.

The 2011 Payson Cross Country team has a lot of talent. Four runners to watch out for are freshman Dakota Lange (2nd place), sophomore Jordan Bailey (3rd place) and senior Kai Shulze (6th place), from the boy’s race, and Melissa Myers, a senior at Payson High who took 3rd place in the girls’ race.

“Having 4 runners from the same team in the top ten is incredible,” said Coach Dave Rockwood. “On a good day any of them could win the whole thing and be the individual region champion.

The team competed in a race September 3 at Mt. Pleasant.
