Current students and alumni will remember for years their sophomore English, or AP literature class.  Controversial topics, classic literature, and especially the infamous poetry portfolio are all things we may remember, but what we will always remember is the teacher that taught us how to enjoy all types of literature, Mrs. Earl.

Mrs. Earl has decided after 33 years of teaching, it’s time to retire and move on to other things.  Mrs. Earls looks forward to traveling, doing genealogy work, and really just doing whatever she wants’ to do.

Many teachers and the administration are going to miss Mrs. Earl and her teaching, advice, and overall friendship.

“I can fill up a whole page with nice things to say,” said Sherry Heaps, a long time friend.  “I think I will miss her being a good friend most of all. We’ve spent a long time together. She is a very dedicated teacher and a good mentor for all of us.”

Vice Principal Brett White appreciates the contribution that Mrs. Earl has made to the school.

“Mrs. Earl has consistently been a top notch teacher and an advocate for students, parents and the community,” said White.

Many of the students that Mrs. Earl has taught throughout the years have been changed for the better by taking her classes.

“Her class was one of the hardest classes I’ve ever taken,” said Mellissa Green. “It was the first class I actually had to work hard to get an A in.”

Her AP students got a run for their money in her classes as well, as Audrey Miller explains.

“The classes I took from her were really hard,” said Miller. “They made me work really hard and take responsibility for my grades.”

Mrs. Earl hopes that the students she has taught can take something from her class and apply it to their lives.

“I hope the students I taught will be able to write well, read critically, enjoy literature, and be successful in college and their careers,” said Earl.

Once in a while a teacher comes around and changes the way their students do everything. That teacher was Mrs. Earl, and we are all better for it.
