The Crystal Apple Award is a very special award given to one teacher once a year in one building, given to a teacher exhibiting excellence in his or her teaching. This year’s Payson High School Crystal Apple Award recipient is Mrs. Kaye Moos. This is her 20th  year at Payson High School teaching sewing, child development, preschool, and adult roles.

The teachers and students love and respect Mrs. Moos. “Not only is she an advocate to teachers and a member of the union, she is also a fundamentally a fun person. She is willing to help students with projects she is also willing to help teachers with projects. She saved my sewing project before”, said Marjie Ralph. Mrs. Deb Earl, who has worked with Mrs. Moos for many years, joined in with the praise “She is always willing to go the extra mile to help students and teachers. She is a great help to the fine arts department.”

Not only is Mrs. Moos the first to spearhead a special project like making a quilt for Mr. Peery when he changed schools, or helping out with Payson Community Theatre, she genuinely enjoys helping each one of her students. “I love to see my students grasp a concept and I love the interaction with the students. I enjoy sharing my experiences and I hope that I am making an impact on their lives,” said Moos. “I’m really surprised,” she added in response being awarded The Crystal Apple. But her the faculty and students were not surprised. Kaye Moos actively participates in making the school environment a better place,  and deserves this award, so next time you see her congratulate her and thank her for the great help she is to the school.
