On October 18-23 the FFA club at Payson High School participated in the national FFA convention in Indianapolis, Indiana.

This conference had FFA representatives from every state attend to participate in several different events and competitions, two of which were the Mock Job Interview and the Poultry Judging contest.

Payson was represented in the Poultry Judging contest by a team consisting of:  Mckell Wall, Christain Robbins, Hunter Siggard, and Zack Wall.  In the competition, contestants had to judge the interior and exterior of an egg, evaluate live and dead birds, and judge chicken pattys and nuggets.  Afterword they had a  test on poultry science.  Our team placed bronze overall with Hunter Siggard and Kristen Robbins earning the silver award individually, and Mckell Wall and Zack wall earning the bronze. Our team placed 28th nationwide.

In the Mock Job Interview contest, contestants had to do just that: a job interview.  We were represented in that contest by Mary Anne Rowley who took 11th in the nation. Overall, our FFA club had a great time at the conference.

“It was way fun,” said Mckell Wall. “The whole FFA had a fun time with eachother.”

Hunter Siggard enjoyed the conference and is optimistic about the future of the FFA “We did really well and we will push ourselves harder to get better placement next year”, said Siggard.

The FFA instructor Mr. Nyle Russell was overall proud of our students. “We did really good and represented the state well”, said Russell.
