PHS Girls Soccer: Good Finish to Great Season

Our Lady Lion Girls Soccer team did very well this year! They took 3rd in region and had the opportunity to go to state. Unfortunately they went against a tough opponent Bear River for their first state game, and sadly they weren’t able to go any farther.

They played very well the 1st half and held them scoreless for 30 minutes. Kaylee Cook had an amazing goal, and Kaneesha Goodworth worked her magic in the goalie box. Taylor Quist was the player of the game for her very last high school soccer game.

The girls had a very strong defense this season led by Charmayne Parkin, Ashlee Rowley and Tess Spencer. These wonderful girls were the body guards for their goalie Kaneesha Goodworth “Kaneesha is one of the best goalies in the region!” said Coach Wright.

The team’s leading scores for the 2011 fall season were Kaylee Cook and Melissa Myers.

Eight of our very own Lady Lion Soccer girls got Academic All-Region, and the amazing Ashlee Rowley got Academic All-State. Way to go girls!

There were 9 Seniors this year; Taylor Quist, Tess Spencer, Ashlee Rowley, Melissa Myers, Kaylee Cook, Charmayne Parkin, Mary Allphin, Miranda Hyer, and Alesha Lee. These wonderful girls had a great year getting closer to each other and being coached by the one and only Andrew Wright.

The girls ended their high school soccer career going to go to state, and of course the amazing opportunity to play for the Payson Lions.
