Together with Taylor Elementary, the students of Latinos in Action of Payson High have come together to raise money to donate to Make a Wish Foundation. Ivan Cardenas, LIA leader, hopes the community will unite for this great cause.

“I believe Payson has the power to come together as a community and make a difference,” said Cardenas.

The LIA are writing Santa letters to and, once all letters are turned in, Macy’s department store will donate a dollar for each letter which will go to Make a Wish Foundation.

LIA students hope to create unity between the school and community. Getting as many people to write letters would be a great help, not only can students help but parents, brothers, sisters can help to.

The theme for the letters is “Believe”, examples of what could be written are why should I be on the nice list, what magic means to me, or a Christmas drawings. There will be a box in the front office and counseling office to turn in the letters and also they can be given to Ivan Cardenas.

The surrounding schools are joining to help out, LIA students from Mt. Nebo and Payson Jr. are encouraging there schools to contribute as well. This is a great opportunity to unite as a school and community this holiday season.

“I believe Payson has the power to come together as a community and make a difference,” said Cardenas.

This fundraiser started November 15 and will go through December 7. We appreciate the LIA students trying to make a difference in helping others and encouraging everyone to write a quick letter to help someone in need.
