The NHS and Student Council hosted a Senior Citizen’s Valentine’s Dance at the city center on February 11th. It was very fun and a good experience for the NHS/Student Council members that went.  “I thought it was fun, and a good experience for students to get to know a different generation and get to know the things they do and have fun with,” said the NHS advisor Mrs. Bensen.

The senior citizens have very different dances from what we have.  Such as differing versions of foxtrot or swing. Our slow dances are like the kid version of their dances. We just dance side to side; while they spin and have more complex steps.  They knew how to dance to different music with the same few steps, by changing the speed of the steps or the way they moved within those steps.

One lady taught all the boys a simple slow dance consisting of one step to the side, one step back, to steps to the side, one step back, and repeat.  It could also be change to faster music by quickening steps and by the guy spinning the girls every once in a while after the second step back.
