Have you ever wondered what it would be like to win a contest at BYU? Marely Lee knows how that feels. Marely is a student here at Payson High, and she won the video portion of the BYU contest: Getting Ready. I was able to ask Marely a few questions about the contest to find out more information.

Q: What was the video about?

A: “It was about the Gettysburg Address. It was just supposed to show how we feel about the Gettysburg Address, and how it can help other people see how blessed we are to have the rights that we do.”

Q: What did you have to do for the video?

A: “I had to show what the Gettysburg Address means. I interviewed people and ask what they thought about the Gettysburg Address.”

Q: What was your inspiration? Why did you decide to do that topic?

A: “My sister had to memorize the Gettysburg Address in her English class, so I thought it would be fun to do this topic to learn more about it, because I never had to memorize it.”

Q: What was the prize for winning?

A: “Well I won the video part of it so I got 150 dollars and my name on the cover show thing they did.”

Q: How did you hear about the contest?

A: “I liked the Studio C Facebook page and they posted that the grand prize winner, that was going to be chosen from the winners, is going to have a free assembly from Studio C. So I thought that would be fun.”

As you can see, Marely went through a lot of hard work to win this contest. She must have made an amazing video about the Gettysburg Address to win a contest from BYU! It is pretty cool to have a student from Payson High win something like this. If you see Marely in the hall, make sure you congratulate her for a job well done.
