On the 29th day of April, various students of Payson High School put on a talent show for the entertainment of the student body.  The first act was Dementia, a rock band that played a song with a really long title about a drink with a floaty and drinking it because your friend is watching.  Jordan Wood then came out to sing and play “100 years.” Will Parson entered the stage with a hilarious guitar song “Most Beautiful Girl” that he dedicated to a girl he saw at The Home Depot.  Katelyn Olson dazzled the audience with her beautiful dance, after which, Nikki, Hannah, and Katelyn did an original dance that impressed everyone.  Brandon Peterson stole the show with an Elvis impression of “Promised Land.” Drill Team member Shelby Mortensen received third place with her awesome dance where she showed off her pretty smile.  Katie Swenson played an original song on the piano that received silence and a warm applause.  Dance Company owned the stage with their dance about a girl who is lost in her imagination.  After the dance with black outfits and white masks, Celtic Fire played “Toss the Feather,” that had the whole school clapping along.  1st place winner, Itsy Garcia, did a brilliant Tahitian dance, showing her extreme core muscles and calves.  Audrey Moffat received 2nd place with her guitar song “Mr. Moon” that she dedicated to all the attractive guys out there.  The next act was a dance routine by Carolina, Yanet, and Anna that showed great coordination.  RachelAnne Kersh, accompanied by Shanlee Hansen, sang “Girl in 14G” that showed off her operatic skills as well as her jazzy scatting.  Aaron Ethridge then played the piano with the popular song “Love Story Meets Viva La Vida.” Aaron learned this song without any music and impressed everyone with his talent.  Finally, Chamber Singers got up and sang “A Boy and A Girl,” an difficult piece by Eric Whitacre.  We are so proud of the talent at Payson High School.  Congrats to the winners of this year’s talent show, and thank you for sharing what you can do with members of our community.
