Swimming to victoryPublished by kate.searle on Tue, 11/24/2015 - 14:55
The Payson swim team recently had their first meet against Grant and Carbon in Price. Payson won the meet! The PHS swim team has been meeting since the beginning of the school year. The team has a class period together dedicated to swim practice (A4). During this period the team travels to the Provo recreation center to practice. During this team they do many strengthening drills to make them faster and stronger. The team has a total of 28 swimmers this year, while last year there were only 13 swimmers. This is a program at Payson that is definitely growing. Swimmer Tiana Argyle says “I am so excited that we have such a big team this year! I think that we’ll do really well! It was exciting to win our first meet and we’ve been working hard since.” There are nine different races in swimming including three relays, 200 freestyle, 200 individual medley (50 meters of each stroke), 100 backstroke, 100 butterfly, 100 breaststroke, and 500 freestyle. The swim coach is Julian Bulkley. Check the school website for a schedule of the swim meets!
