Do you ever feel like there isn’t enough time in the day? Do you feel like you are practically swimming in homework and late assignments? Do tests and deadlines seem to be coming faster and faster? If you answered yes to any of these questions, chances are, you are a high school student. Whether you are a sophomore, junior, or senior, it feels like your to-do list is getting longer and longer while your day is getting shorter and shorter. With school, homework, extra-curricular activities, family, friends, religious affiliations, and work, it’s no wonder high school students are falling behind and feeling stressed out. Here is a list of five tips to make homework and school work less of a stress:

  1. Do your homework right when you get home. If you do this, your brain will still be in “school mode”, so you will be more productive. It is easier to complete your homework at three in the afternoon rather than three in the morning.

  2. Do your A-day homework on A-day. You will complete homework faster if you actually remember what you are doing. By doing your homework the day you get it you will be able to to save time by not having review how to do the assignment.

  3. Never procrastinate big projects. Plan out exactly what you need to do to get the project done well and on time and stick to your plan. Not only will you get a better grade on the project, you will also not have to cram it in the night before thus getting behind in all your other classes.

  4. Don’t skip class. If you skip class you will have to make up the in-class assignments as well as the homework. Go to class and you might be able to finish your homework in class.

  5. Take a deep breath, relax, and don’t overstress. It’s ok to take a break and do something for yourself every once in a while. You will not be as productive if your mind is cluttered.

School and life will get hectic. It is just how life goes. You can’t eliminate stress, but you can lessen it by doing things everyday to make your life go smoother. Life is a hard thing, but you can do it. Manage your time wisely now, so you can do what you want later.
