Utah College Application Week (UCAW) and College and Financial Aid Night

Submitted by kate.searle on
During the week of November 12-16, Payson High School will be sponsoring Utah College Application Week (UCAW). November 13 and 14 all seniors expected to graduate in 2019 will be encouraged to apply for admission to at least one college or university, if they have not already done so. The purpose of this day is to acquaint students with the college application process and to communicate the importance of applying to college. Information about completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will also be made available during the event. There is a College Application Worksheet, which we encourage students to complete prior to the event, that is available on the Payson High School Counseling page of the school website. Having this Worksheet completed and available at the College Application event will allow students to quickly and easily complete college applications. In addition, we are holding  “College and Financial Aid Night-Discover What Fits You” on Thursday, November 15th from 4:00-7:00. This event is for students, families, and members of the community. At this exciting and informative event, students will discover many diverse options available to help them decide what “fits”. To assist students in these decisions representatives from the following institutions will be available:

College reps- Utah State, Weber State, University of Utah, UVU, BYU, Snow, SUU, Dixie, MTECH, BYU-I, and Weber State ROTC

Military recruiters- Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Army Guard

Apprenticeship- Technology, computer coding, concrete, plumbing, pipefitting, welding, electrical, construction, and sheet metal (demand is high for people trained in these fields)

High School opportunities- ALC, Internships, Job Corp

Financial Aid- FAFSA Completion help, My 529, Regents, Wells Fargo, and local scholarships
