"What the shmell" is going on in Nielson's classroom?

Submitted by kate.searle on

Mr. Nielson is a loved teacher here at Payson High School. Mr. Nielson graduated from Brigham Young University in order to teach Physics and Astronomy. This year he only teaches Physics and has over 250 students. Nielson’s Physics classes are currently building CO2 cars to have a race next week. The students are constructing, designing, and cutting the cars themselves. These cars teach and apply all of Isaac Newton’s law of motion that the students recently studied. The students have also learned and tested on linear motion so far this year.

Mr. Nielson has a strong sense of humor with many witty comebacks. Some of the things he says the most include “What the shmell?” and “Seriousl?”. Nielson connects with all his students by making quirky comments to them until they start to make these comments back. If any student has a hard time understanding any topic Nielson can simplify it almost to the point that a young child can understand. Speaking of young children, Mr. Nielson is the father to 5 children with one on the way. However, he does not want to know what gender the baby is until it is born because he likes the anticipation.

So that’s “what the shmell” is going on.
