This year, the FFA’s State Convention was held March 10-12 in Richfield. FFA State Convention is where all the chapters from the state come together to listen to workshops, attend sessions, compete in speaking contests, and watch as new state officers are selected for the next year.

Payson Sterling Scholars make history in 2016

On Tuesday, March 10, three of Payson High’s finest made a mark on Payson. Sterling Scholars Caleb Peterson, Garth Talbot, and Shelby Bulkley became the first Payson students in years to make it to the finals round in the Sterling Scholar competition. These three finals candidates have worked hard to get to the finals. The process of becoming a sterling scholar starts by them filling out an application(s) at their school. Departments then interview the candidates.

The Huff: PHS students win big

March 1, 2016 was the 46th Annual Huff Music Competition held at the Payson High Auditorium. Seventeen students performed either instrumental or vocal, but only five could take home a trophy of gold in this heated competition. “I was very pleased with the talent we had at the Huff music contest this year. All who competed were prepared and did well. I am glad I did not have to decide the outcome!” said Mrs. Morgan after helping at The Huff.

 

Hallie Neves MountainStar Healthcare Star Athlete of the Week

Hallie Neves, a senior at Payson High School, has been honored as the MountainStar Healthcare Star Athlete of the Week. Hallie Neves is the definition of a hard worker.  Hallie has been working hard these past few months to recover from breaking her hip in the basketball season, and now she has fully recovered and played her first softball game this past weekend. 37 days until Payson Pride Banquet

On April 15, 2016 Payson High School will be hosting the Payson Pride Banquet at Payson Jr. High Cafetorium.  Doors open at 5:30pm with dinner, entertainment, and silent auction beginning at 6:00pm.  Live auction will start at 7:00pm.

This months online magazine is now live. It has articles and videos about the Paysetters, cheer team, sports highlights, winter guard, getting ready to be a student abroad, and many more. To make things even more exciting, PHTV most viewed Youtube video ever, Putting an end to girl-on-girl hate at PHS. This video was published on Youtube less than a week ago and has over 1,000 views so far. It is spreading through social media and has a message to change jealous into admiration.

PHS Spirit Night Feb. 8 at Chick-Fil-A

Remember when your parents make you look back at their high school pictures and all the trending clothes and hair... oh that hair, then they tell you that leg warmers were once cool? What’s cool now? One of the style trends today are Jesus Sandals, as they’ve come to be called, they’re usually worn with long socks and shorts but are they the ‘big hair’ of our era? They’re worn by both girls and boys and are popular for people who play sports.

Math Bearable?

Math is a subject that most of us dread. We moan, groan, and complain that we are probably never going to use this at all in our lives. Ms. Stanton is one of the five math teachers here at PHS. She teaches math two honors and math three, so sophomores and juniors. With the recent math grant, Ms. Stanton is able to provide calculators to her class that stay in the classroom. When you walk into her classroom you can see all sorts of posters and sayings hanging on the wall. You can easily walk into the room and know by the labelings on the drawers where to find a certain item. Ms.
