Veteran's Day Assembly 2020

Submitted by david.rockwood on

At PHS we recognize the quiet courage, steadfast selflessness, and unprecedented patriotism of our military veterans. Because of the pandemic restrictions, we were not able to hold an in-person assembly to honor and thank our veterans and to help develop the same in our students as we normally do. Instead, our Social Studies department organized a wonderful virtual assembly that can be viewed at the link below. It was broadcast into every classroom during our assembly time today.

Special thanks to Sergeant and Special Agent (Ret.) Jacob Sumsion for being willing to be interviewed on camera about his experiences in the service. Our school choir performed a moving song. We loved seeing the photos of veteran family members of our students and staff (thank you for submitting those). We extend our deepest gratitude to all those who have selflessly served, willing to put themsleves in harm's way to serve a greater cause on our behalf.

Near the main office in the school, we have a Veterans exhibit that displays the names of many of the veterans from our Payson Lion family over the years. There are over 1,400 names! We have added all of these names, plus otherrs that we know about, into a special area of our  PHS Hall of Fame website honoring our veterans. If you are interested in vewing the list of names or in adding a missing name to our list, please visit the site HERE.
