Twenty-nine 9-12th grade students participated in the 2009 reflections program at Payson High School. The Council Reflection Night took place on January 6th. Two PHS students did exceptionally well. Arianna Brimley moved up with her project in musical composition of a beautiful piano piece , along with Kari Haskell who moved up with her project in photography. Her photo consisted of a skateboard jump photo-shopped together in all its stages.  “It was exciting putting it all together and seeing my hard work pay off” Said Kari Ann Haskell. Both girls made it to the council level, which means competing against students from Springville, Spanish Fork, Maple Mountain, and Salem Hills. They are now going on to region which will include the schools listed above, plus Provo High School and Timpanogas High School. Many other students were awarded with Awards of Excellence: Rachael Johnson in Literature; Kari Haskell, Rachael Johnson and Alex Nielson in Photography; Angela Williams, Bethany Maynes, Brady Gurr and Marisol Falcon in Visual Arts; and Arianna Brimley and Laura Wear in Musical Composition. All the students who participated in the Reflections Program did very well in the competition. They all worked very hard on their projects and it definitely showed in their work."I hope more students will compete in the Reflections program next year. There are eight categories in which students can compete: Dance, Musical Composition, Visual Arts, 3-D Art, Theater, Literature, Photography, and Film/Video. We would love to see more entries, especially at the high school level. If students were looking for an arts area which doesn't have many entries, 3-D art, Film/Video and Theater would be a great place to start. Pick up an application next fall and get started!" said PTA president Rosemary Parson.
