A person who lives their life devoted to the service of others is  rare. This is why I have come to enjoy the company of the lovely Ms. Whitnie Whitbeck, a new teacher at PHS; she is truly a breath of fresh air.

The reason Ms. Whitbeck is here teaching is all because of her high school math teacher named Mr. Stuckie.

“He was awesome and he made me feel like I was awesome. Not only at math but in life, he gave me confidence.” Whitbeck said.

She has been doing an incredible job of following in his footsteps, making each day at Payson High School a little brighter.

This is her first year teaching and she is so excited to be here with us. She is fitting in well with the faculty and says that the math department rocks, and is happy to be a part of it! She is joining us from the little town of Beaver, Utah, and enjoys being in a bigger town with more options for shopping.

Something that I found interesting about Ms. Whitbeck is her very mathematical name that she was adopted into, Whitnie Whitbeck, or Whit Squared for short. How fitting for a math teacher! A few more fun facts are: her biggest fear is baking flour, she can't be near it in anyway shape or form; if she could marry any celebrity it would be Hugh Jackman from Australia/Les Miserables with a little Wolverine in there. (I'm giving her props on her taste in men.) She is deaf in left ear. And if she could only eat one food for the rest of her life it would be Cafe Rio Tacos.

With her warm caring personality and genuine concern for the students we know that she makes a great addition to our school faculty. I hope you are all as excited as i am to get to know her better as the school years goes on. But for now, Welcome to PHS Ms. Whitbeck!
