Payson spring sports are upon us! The 2010 Payson boys’ tennis team is rolling through the competition. After two non region matches of pure domination, it’s sure to be a great year for our boys. For the first time in years, the boy’s team swept every match in their first meet against West Lake High School. Way to go my brothers! Sam Critchfield, a senior on the team had this to say about the team and their record so far, “Overall, we have a very strong team, a lot of depth in every position.” In their second meet at Riverton High School, the boys won their 1st singles, 3rd singles, and 2nd doubles matches, thus winning the whole meet. Coach Thomas, the head coach for the boy’s team thinks this the best tennis team Payson has had in at least five years, “The boys are strong, confident, and capable.” The boys had their first region meet in Spanish Fork and played well. The Dons gave them a run for their money though, and ended up beating the Lions. They continued on to a tournament down in St. George, where they won two out of their five meets. Yes! Go Payson! We’ll have more on the boy’s season as it progresses. In the mean time, go watch one of the home meets, you’ll be sure to see some wholesome domination!
