The Huff: PHS students win big

Submitted by kate.searle on

March 1, 2016 was the 46th Annual Huff Music Competition held at the Payson High Auditorium. Seventeen students performed either instrumental or vocal, but only five could take home a trophy of gold in this heated competition. “I was very pleased with the talent we had at the Huff music contest this year. All who competed were prepared and did well. I am glad I did not have to decide the outcome!” said Mrs. Morgan after helping at The Huff.

Kambria Helvey took the highest honor being awarded the 2016 Huff Music Competition Sweepstakes Award for her piano solo performance. Chase Radmall and Ashlyn Sharp were both awarded the Instrumental Ensemble prize; Chase also received an award for an instrumental solo. Alyssa Behrend was awarded the Vocal Solo award, and last but certainly not least Abigail Lisonbee won the Piano Solo award.

Mrs. Morgan was present at this competition along with the descendants of the founder, the late Lewis Huff, his daughter and son, Wayne Huff and Colleen Wilson and grandson Rhett Wilson and his children. Payson High School is proud to support this  proud music tradition.
