21 days until the Payson Pride Banquet

Submitted by kate.searle on

On April 15, 2016 Payson High will be hosting the Payson Pride Banquet at Payson Jr. High cafeteria for all to enjoy. This event will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a turkey dinner, dessert provided by Eli’s Ice Cream and Deli, entertainment by various clubs and volunteers, and a silent auction beginning at 6:00 p.m. The auction will include golf packages, prom packages, massages, shooting lessons, and many more. This banquet has been organized to pay for the expenses of the bronze Lion statue crafted by the talented artist, Makay Hooley, who has worked very hard to achieve the Je Ne Sais Quoi of the masterpiece.

In order for Payson High’s new bronze lion statue to be erected, lots of money needs to be raised which means this event will need to be attended by many. Tickets are $20 for adults, and $10 for students.  Tickets can be purchased from the finance office, Mrs. Gowans, or any student council member. It would be greatly appreciated if all students, teachers, and families would participate, or even just show support.

When asked to compare the full sized statue to the small model, Mrs. Stanton said, “It’s immaculately better, it’s giant and it’s awesome...it looks nice.” She believes the banquet will be, “very successful and great”. They plan to get enough money to pay for the remainder of the costs needed for the bronze statue.

Although the banquet has been organized and planned out, more auction-worthy items or services are needed to fulfill the desired result. If anyone has connections or items that would benefit the banquet, please contact Mrs. Julie Gowans, julie.gowans [at] stu.nebo.edu, or someone else involved in this eventful Payson Pride Banquet. We would like to thank all that plan to attend the event, and those that are helping to make this cause happen!
