Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month

Aloha! May is Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, (sometimes called AAPI Month). During this important month, we recognize the great "historical and cultural contributions of individuals and groups of Asian and Pacific Islander descent to the United States" (history.com). These contributions include the fields of science, medicine, literature, art, sports, government, and many others. Those of AAPI heritage "have long played an essential role in writing the American story.  From serving our country in uniform, advocating for civil rights, starting new businesses, and winning Olympic medals, the contributions of the [AAPI] community touch the lives of Americans every day" (The White House).

Payson High School joins with the rest of the nation in celebrating this important month. We recognize the incalculable impact of those with AAPI heritage, woven into the rich tapestry that is American history generally, as well as our local community today.
