The Boys Lacrosse team is on fire! If you have never seen a lacrosse game, it is a lot of fun, and we would love to have more support at our games.

On Tuesday, April 9, we beat Salem Hills for the first time ever. It was an exciting one as we were down 6-4 to start the fourth quarter and scored 7 straight including 6 in the first 6 minutes of the fourth. We followed it up with a big region win against Timpanogos 12-7. Timpanogos was considered one of the top teams in our region. The Daily Herald even had a write up from our game last night!

Those wins bring us to 5-3, we are first place in region and currently 4th in 4A. This is an incredible achievement for these boys since none of them have played more than 3 full seasons of lacrosse and are going up against a lot of teams who the majority of the team has played since middle or elementary school.

April 23 Update:

Congratulations to the Boys Lacrosse Team! On April 22, we played Orem who was the only other undefeated team in region left and was 7-2 on the season. We won 17-3! We have been challenging the boys to put together a complete game, especially on the offensive end and they definitely met that challenge last night. That win puts us in sole first place in the region and in control of our destiny to win the region with the back half of region play coming up against the 4 teams we have already beaten.

Another special congrats to Gary Bolton, who last night became Payson's all time leading goal scorer with 46 career goals. This is only Gary's third year playing lacrosse and second year playing varsity. He is only a junior and broke that record in less than 2 seasons of play so that record will a tough one to beat if he keeps playing like this into his senior year. He also tied the all time points record last night (goals + assists) and has a great chance to break that on Thursday. We will have a bunch of career and single season records broken in the next few weeks

Lastly, Colby Olson and Aiden Hardy were named to the midseason All-American Watchlist. There are only about 40 players in the entire state on this list which will be narrowed down at the end of the season to recognize the top 10 players in the entire state regardless of classification. Colby is one of only 10 defenseman in the state on the list and Aiden is one of only 3 Faceoff Midfielders. This is a huge accomplishment!
