Coach Stewart Wright

Payson High School is thrilled to announce the new head coach of the boys' soccer team: Coach Stewart Wright.

Coach Wright grew up in Salem and attended Spanish Fork High School. After graduating, he coached boys soccer at Spanish Fork for nine years, four of those years as varsity head coach. He also coached girls soccer at Payson High for six years, working as the JV/goalkeeper coach. He graduated with a degree in mathematics education from BYU and taught math for one year at Cyprus High School, three years in Vermont, and one year in Connecticut. While living in Vermont he coached soccer for three years at St. Michael's College, which is a DII school. He recently finished a master's degree in soccer coaching from Ohio University. Currently, he also serves as an assistant coach with the Payson girls' soccer team. He is excited to begin working with the boys' soccer team and continue building our tradition of excellence.  Coach Wright brings a wealth of experience and deep soccer knowledge to our program, as well as a committed determination to not only build a great soccer program but also to build great men. (And yes he is the brother of our other Coach Wright, Andrew, who serves as our Head Girls' Lacrosse Coach.) The PHS Lion Pride is excited to welcome Coach Stewart Wright and we look forward to the great things the team will accomplish under his leadership.
