The Payson High School cross country season is in full swing, and Coach Rockwood is impressed with his team. The team defeated Spanish For and Emery September 29th on the new course. "Kai Schulze led the way with a second place finish over all and a new school record," said Rockwood. Chloe Williams also finished with a second place finish and a new school record. Tyler Watson, Clayton Skousen, Blake Reynolds, Jordan Fuentes, Cody Kenison and Nathan Womack finished strong defeating Spanish Fork.

Rockwood is proud of each member of the cross country team. "Our goal is to have everyone consistently improve," said Rockwood, and so far the team is doing just that. If everyone gets better what more can you ask for? "If the team can maintain the improvement pace I believe the boys and girls teams have a great shot at representing Payson in the state meet," Rockwood added. The team has represented well in the meets in Salem and Mt. Nebo, as well as running away from the competition in a home Payson meet. Team Captain Kai Shultze has helps lead the Lions with some of the fastest times on the team.

Team Capitan Chloe Williams said, "The team is doing great through their first half of the season". As a team captain she expects hard work and discipline from her team.

Rockwood values his team captains. "The captains are the strength of the team; if the captains are complete at all points, the team will be strong; if the captains are defective, the team will be weak."

"There is no weakness on our team," said Rockwood. "We have some of the best captains around."
