Whitnie Blackham is the recipient of the 2023-2024 Crystal Apple Award. This is a unique award given to teachers who go out of their way to provide help and friendship to the students and co-workers at their school.
Whitnie Blackham has been teaching at Payson for around 9 years. Even this far into the game she's open to embracing new opportunities and continually improving her skill. She is no longer a sage on the stage, she is a facilitator of learning in the classroom and her students and colleagues enjoy working with her. Whitnie has a way of helping students realize they are capable of learning math with the right amount of effort and dedication. The classes she enjoys teaching most are Math 1010 and 1050. She makes the learning fun and relatable while keeping rigor in her lessons. She has a classroom that is inviting and she spreads that sunshine around the school with all of us.
