On Monday, January 15, we'll commemorate Martin Luther King Jr. Day with the day off school.

This federal holiday is observed on the third Monday every January, and this year, it "falls on the actual birthday of the celebrated civil rights leader who was assassinated more than a half a century ago (NPR).

Since 1994, Americans have been "encouraged to observe the day "with acts of civic work and community service" in honor of King's legacy."

This upcoming Monday, consider what you can do to make a difference in our community. Go Lions!
