Track & Field: New Records Set!

It was an amazing weekend for Payson T&F at the Utah County Invitational. Tons of our athletes placed in the top 10 in the county in their individual events. Quite a few more of our athletes qualified for state automatically by time/mark. And we even had some Payson High School records broken! 

 
Bridger Blauer broke the PHS Boys Javelin School Record with a throw of 166' 7".
 
Kambri Muir broke the PHS Girls 300m Hurdles School Record with a time of 46.83. 
 
Two girls qualified for state in the long jump: Kambri Muir, with a jump of 16' 4.5", and Logan Oyler, with a jump of 15' 11".
 
Two girls qualified for state in the 300m Hurdles: Brei Cook, with a time of 47.23, and Kambri Muir, with a time of 46.83.
 
Braxton Shirley qualified for state in the high jump with a jump of 6' 3". He was also Utah County overall high jump champion! 

 
Chandler Clements qualified for state in the discus with a throw of 128' 10".
 
 
The girls 4x100 relay qualified for state with a time of 51.08. Team members were Logan Oyler, Kambri Muir, McKenna Taylor (9th grade), and Brei Cook.
 
The boys 4x100 relay qualified for state with a time of 43.5. Team members were Seth Staley, Asher Geldmacher, Dylan Wall, and Denver Spanheimer.

 
 
 
Lion T&F kids deserve recognition for their hard work and talent. They are KILLING IT this year. Last week, we competed at the Skyhawk Invitational in Salem and had some awesome things happen.
 

The following athletes automatically qualified for state: 

  • Asher Geldmacher in the high jump
  • Owen Cottle in the discus
  • Reagan McKenna, Olivia Nielson, Brei Cook, and Halle Nielson in the girls 4x400 meter relay
The following athletes broke PHS class records:
  • Cade Muir broke the PHS Freshman Boys Shot Put Record with a throw of 35' 4"
  • Denver Spanheimer broke the PHS Junior Boys 300m Hurdles Record with a time of 39.08 (2nd fastest time in PHS history)
  • Asher Geldmacher broke the PHS Junior Boys High Jump Record with a jump of 6' 2"
  • Braxton Shirley is currently 1 INCH AWAY from breaking the PHS All-Time Boys High Jump Record. He jumped 6' 5" last weekend! 
Additionally, we updated the PHS Top 10 Marks of All-Time List last week, and HOLY COW, these kids are amazing. The following athletes have made the Top 10 PHS All-Time List so far in 2024:
