Although you may watch the PHS Pride on an almost daily basis, you might not have considered how much work that broadcasting students are putting in behind the scenes. In fact, these hardworking broadcasting student’s recently took part in a state competition. This broadcasting competition has no divisions, so PHS students compete against some of the biggest schools in the state. The Broadcast Awards night took place just recently, on Thursday, March 22. Needless to say, it was a fairly successful night for broadcasting teacher Mr. Peery and his students!

Payson High became a tropical island during the last week of February for this school year’s spirit week. Throughout the week students wore beach attire, and on Wednesday the 28th, people got together to watch “Lilo and Stitch.” At the end of the week Seniors, Juniors and Sophomores went against each other in an assembly by competing against each other in different games: a war of the classes.

On February 23, Mr. Sorenson and Mr. Peery took 30 students to go to Zions and Bryce Canyon National Park along with Principal Shepherd and Coach Miller. In order for the students to go, they must “learn” while they go off adventuring. Mr. Peery decided to have the students bring some of his equipment to film, take pictures, and capture the beautiful views of Bryce and Zions.

Respect the Pride

Other schools in our district have taken to calling us trash, talking garbage on us, and just all around not really liking us. However, sometimes at our lowest points, we also think that we are nothing special. In order for other schools to even think about respecting us, we need to start having respect for ourselves. If we respect ourselves than others will respect us too. We need to keep having positive thoughts, and just take in all of the negative comments and throw them in the actual trash.
