Mr. Payson 2011: A New Lion King Arises

The night was fun filled with creative performances by Mr. Andrew Wright, singing his rendition of Bonnie Tyler’s: I Need a Hero; the Paysetters in whimsical purple and lime green leopard print; and an innovative dance number by the Dance Co. to nothing but the beat of a heart.

But in the end it was our boys that really stole the show. Our winner, Jeffery Vance Marvin got our show rolling right from the start in his octopus themed swimwear. His talent only moved us further when his booty shaking was nothing short of that of the great Kevin Bacon. When asked what his biggest talent was, however, he answered “being himself”. He definitely showed us that when he came out in his evening wear: a pair of Payson green tube socks topped off with a stuffed lion.

Some highlights of the evening were by far, Brady Clark’s shiny, shaven legs; David Green’s spandex clad body twirling ribbons like a professional; Jordan Wood’s very suave cut off dress shirt; Jordan Bailey’s shout out to his future love (he is turning 16 soon, ladies); Bryce Clyde singing a love song to his favorite teacher (Miss Krystal Baker) stating “I heard you like Italian men. Well, I’m not Italian. But, for you? I can be.”; and Kai Schulze proclaiming he would give up his Klondike Bar for world peace.

In the end it was Brady Clark that went away with Mr. Congeniality. Jordan took the cake with his cake decorating, a decision that was unanimous after his immaculate display at culinary artistry. Bryce Clyde by far had the best legs.

Some may wonder, after Braiden Muniz’s win in the leg category last year and Mr. Bryce Clyde’s this year, if it’s the tan that is the key to winning in this portion of the competition. Take that as a hit for next year, future Mr. Payson.

Jordan Bailey’s hips definitely didn’t lie during the swimsuit section of Mr. Payson. After that display of butt shaking there was no question as to why he took the trophy for best swimsuit. Kai Schulze grew an entire afro in the time it took to transfer from swimwear to talent. He really stole the show when he began to play a mix of Taio Cruz’s  Dynamite  and the theme song from Pirates of the Caribbean which ultimately earned him the top prize in the talent portion.

Even though all of our boys looked the best they ever have in their evening wear, David Green was by far the most handsome in his dynamite white tux and won his award accordingly.

Our final champions in the Mr. Payson competition were Bryce Clyde as 2nd runner up, Kai Schulze coming in as 1st runner up, and Jeffery Marvin going for gold and winning it all.
