PHS Dance Company Films at Zion National Park

All I can say about the Dance Company tour is that it was BOO BOP! (Meaning fantastic, very fun, and exciting). On the week of Feb. 24-27th the Dance Company girls packed up their bags (about a month’s worth of baggage) to go to St. George Utah for about three days. It was a really long drive there because of the bad weather and once we got there it was about nine thirty so we just all went to sleep.   The next morning we put on our tie die shirts and sweats and headed over to Zion’s National Park where we filmed our dances on our hike to the three different levels of waterfalls.  The dance movie we filmed will be shown in our spring concert in May. It was really cool and such a beautiful location. We all had planned a little motif during class and we were able to perform the motifs at the waterfalls. We had a funny experience when we ran into an elderly couple on our hike they stopped to talk to us and asked us to show them a dance and we did just that. We put on a little dance show for them right on the spot. It was funny. Later that day after we went home and rested we got all dolled up to go out and eat at Red Robin. We had a really good time there and went back to our hotel where we swam and just chilled all together.   The next day we woke up pretty early to travel over to Pineiew High School where we took a master dance class with their dance company taught by a guest choreographer. It was a fun class; we learned a lot of technique and even a dance that we all danced to together. After our trip to Pine View we went on and traveled over to Tuacahn High School of Performing Arts. This was my favorite part of the whole trip. All the kids there were really nice and friendly and easy to work with. There we also took a dance class with them taught by our very own Holly Petty. She taught us a snippet of a dance she choreographed then we were partnered up with the kids at the Tuachahn school and we had to work together to change up the dance in any way we wanted.  It was a really good experience. After that we went and watched The Taming of The Shrew it was a funny play I think everyone enjoyed that. We were all really tired after this so we went back to our hotel and slept for a few hours, went swimming, or did whatever you felt like doing. Later that night we all got back on our bus to travel over to fiesta fun. Arcades, pizza diner, miniature golf, go-carts and a lot of fun! We had a funny experience when we were riding in the go-carts. I was riding with Ambree Draper and Belen Moyano had stopped in her go cart because it wouldn’t start and Ambree didn’t see here and we totally crashed into her sending her and us spinning. It was dangerous but we couldn’t even stop laughing then all of a sudden out of the corner comes Bethany Vanmoose going as fast as she possibly could, for some reason she couldn’t stop so she too joined into our crash. Luckily no one was hurt. We spent a few hours at fiesta fun and it was ale Hernandez’s birthday so we brought her out a cake and celebrated her birthday. “I loved celebrating my birthday on our tour it was so fun”, said Hernandez. We were all so sad when Friday was ending because it was basically our last day before the tour was over and we all had so much fun and grew closer together. It was a party every night so it was sad to leave that. The last day came and we were all packed before we left we had to do what girls love doing most shopping! We hit up the outlet mall and we scoured around for about an hour and a half. We all got back on the bus with our bags of clothes. What a great way to end our dance company tour. It was such a boo boppin time. Everyone had to agree that our favorite part of tour was spending time with each other. “I just love all the girls,” said Caitlin Lindley.
