Brenda and Leticia Trujillo are the basketball twins of the Payson Lions Basketball team. Both girls play on the sophomore team and are excited with all the improvement they have made this season so far. Although it might be hard to tell them apart on the court, they are very different players.

“I have the hardest time telling them apart when they are on and off the court, I will catch myself calling Brenda Leticia and Leticia Brenda, they both are just so happy to be in practice every day, I just can’t help but confuse them,” said Coach Tona Graff.

Brenda and Leticia started off the season not having much experience in the game of basketball. For being the tallest, they were two of the weakest when it came to fundamentals. Working hard they have both improved so much and bettered their game. Improving on their foot work and shots, the twins have conquered almost all the challenges they have faced by improving their inside moves and boxing out when rebounding the twins are the perfect duo. Not only is their height an advantage against their opponents, but their confidence and aggressiveness on the court makes a huge difference in the game.

The twins are happy to play every day and are hard workers, not only do they keep the team laughing during practice, but they are great team players and encourage not only each other but the rest of the team to play 110% every minute.

“I love playing sports with my sister; she is always there to tell me what I’m doing wrong and what I need to do better. She is there to encourage me and I know I always have someone there cheering me on,” said Brenda Trujillo.

Not only do they understand each other, but they are the best of friends. They always have someone to practice with and they can help each other improve to the best of each other’s potential. Even though they both don’t play at the same time in a game they are always cheering each other on.

They both enjoy being in people face, the adrenaline feeling while playing, the aggressiveness of the sport and always doing some things if it’s not running down the court then its blocking someone whatever it is they are never standing still and that’s their favorite part.

“I can always count on her on and off the court, she is my best friend and I know she will always be there for me,” said Leticia Trujillo.

Only being sophomores this year the twins are excited for the next few seasons to come to play basketball and always having someone there to practice with and count on. The twins bond in sports will get stronger and stronger. The coaches look forward to the next years with them on the basketball team.

“I look forward to what they do with their talents and heights in the future,” said Graff.
