World renowned band, The Score, visited Payson High School on April 10th: giving people of Payson High School a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The band that wrote this school year’s anthem “Unstoppable” was brought to Payson, Utah for a loudly applauded assembly in which they preformed other of their hit songs like “Revolution” and “Legend” followed by a Q&A led by José Valle and Kaeden Flippen.

The Score’s trip to Payson’s auditorium started months ago, when Kaeden Flippen nominated José Valle for the band’s #LocalLegend where he got shoutouts on social media, band merch and concert tickets. Months before that, @TheScoreMusic said on Twitter, “So Cool. Shout out to @Payson Lions for making UNSTOPPABLE their high School theme this year @AlfredValle27 @Flippenator.” Valle’s win–which included band merch and VIP concert tickets–later led to Valle, Flippen and the band having deeper communication. Within a couple weeks, Valle said, “They [The Score] personally reached out to us, they communicated with us and were really awesome.”

After students witnessed the unique concert, student council members, Valle and Flippen, and the band sat down for a Q&A in which the questions were brought in from what students on social media wanted to know. After explaining how the New York founded band came to be, Edan Dover said to aspiring musicians, “Don’t be afraid to have a full-time gig, but also pursue your dream on the side,” advice very much needed for those who desire a career in music in their lives.

The experience wasn’t only special for the ones who watched the performance, the members of the band “Joined the likes of Kevin Bacon,” as José Valle put it.  The Score’s visit to the high school was definitely something they had in their mind while they performed in Salt Lake City later that night.
