PHS Wrestling Preview

Repeat… State Champions! State Champions! State Champions! State Champions! Can you feel it? Payson High Wrestling, a sport that doesn’t get the credit it deserves! The strength, the might, the skill that it takes to become State Champions! Payson’s very own wrestling team, something to be proud of, and something to get excited about! This season there are five returning seniors, Colton Cannon, who took first in state last season, Brock Brown, Tito Ortiz, who took second in state last season, C.J. Ford, and Jeremiah Guzman who took third. Also returning is third place ranked Brady Loveless, who is a junior this year.
The wrestling team held tryouts a couple weeks ago and they have a big team. “This is the first time we’ve had more than twenty on the team,” said Colton Cannon. In other words, the more wrestlers on the team the better; this season the team only has three home match, three! That means there are only three chances to come support the wrestling team on Payson turf. The three home matches are against Springville on December 17th, Maple Mountain on January 14th, and Salem Hills on January 20th. Come witness the Red Devils being crushed, come watch the Golden Eagles feathers flying, and observe the thrashing on the Salem Hills Skyhawks!
