Penny Wars was amazing once again this year, thanks to our very own student body. For two weeks Payson High School’s Student Council and LIA groups got together and carried around jars for our 2011 Penny wars. Our goal for this year was $2,012 and because of our fabulous students here at PHS we got over $2,500.

Penny Wars started on November 28 and ended on December 9. On the last day over $1,000 was donated. Seniors will have bragging rights for the rest of this year for pulling it together on the very last day and winning! We all did great and it was such a close competition for both weeks.

“We really exceeded our expectations, our student body was really worrying us the first week and a half until the last day when we pulled it off and got over $1,000 in one day,” said Maygan Straight

It was amazing to feel our school come together to help families that are in our own community. “It made me so happy to help and donate to needy family; a surge of energy went through me and made me feel so great,” said James Lopez one of our awesome students who donated to our Penny Wars Fundraiser.

Student Council and LIA bought for several families to help them have a Christmas this year. Thank you all so much for your wonderful donations, every penny counts.
