Alicia Garff was named Daily Herald’s Teacher of the Week for the week of May 20. She is a loved by her students because she is continually making unique learning opportunities for them.  They have gone on field trips, used candy to chart data, and have been very successful in their testing and state performance standards.  Finishing her fifth year of teaching, Garff goes right along with the year's theme of being UNSTOPPABLE! Congratulations on this special recognition.

It is that time of year again. The time that every student both dreads and loves. It's the time of end of the year testing and finals but it's also the final month before summer vacation. It's the time that we say good-bye to our seniors and watch as they go off to start their lives. It's also the time for the very last edition of the Mane Street Journal for the 2017-2018 school year. Thank you so much for all the support that you have given us this year. So without further ado please enjoy this months edition of The Mane Street Journal.

Mrs. Carlson and her team of wood shop students have filled the Payson High main gym with wood wonders once again this year.  Pieces range from bed stands, dressers and drawers, to nightstands, pool tables, and hope chests.  

Many of these projects have been in the works since the beginning of the year and highlight the different skills available within the woodworking trade.  Many pieces this year have logos or images etched, burned, or laser printed into the wood.

On May 1, baseball lovers and community members came together at the “Strike Out Cancer” Payson vs. Lehi baseball game to support Dena Hiatt and her fight against cancer.  Hiatt, whose son is on the Payson Baseball team, expressed in an email to Payson High, “It is things like the coming together of a small little baseball community on our behalf that reminds me how much love and support we have.  No matter what happens we will be alright!”

 Graduation, whether you are excited for it or dreading it, it’s been on our minds since kindergarten. We have worked for thirteen years to get to this point. Everyone has gone through life experiences as small as making the first boxed mac and cheese dinners of many, all the way up to learning how to do complex trigonometry and how to make a somewhat correct works cited page. If you think about it, we’ve come so far. Who would have thought that one sheet of paper would affect our lives so much.
