Patriotic Contests

The Freedom Festival sponsors multiple patriotic contests each year in categories including Art, Essay, Speech, Storytelling, and Video. The video contest is open to everyone; other contests are open only to students. The contest theme this year is Freedom.

In addition to receiving cash prizes, contest winners enjoy having their work promoted in the community by the Freedom Festival all year.

The deadline for all contests is November 14, so get moving!

Students Bike 22 miles for Life Activities Class

Mrs. Miller’s Individualized Life Activities classes were given the opportunity to ride bikes for 22 miles as a biannual activity on October 12 and 14. Her half-year classes participate on this mechanical journey either in the fall or spring, with preparation prior to the event. The smooth trail begins in Provo and continues for 11 miles until a point at Lone Peak is reached. The students rest for a while and then proceed to come back the way they came. In previous years, her classes have biked from Provo to Thanksgiving point and taken a front-runner back. Mrs.

With a new school year starting at PHS, new is the theme for the first edition of The Mane Street Journal. We have features on the new english teachers, new orchestra director, a look into how things are going for the new football coach, as well as an introduction to the new magazine staff. Misinformation About an Assembly at Payson High Utah

There has been some confusion on an assembly that supposedly took place at Payson High School. An article was posted about the assembly on a site called paysonroundup,com about the assembly. This article was referring to an assembly that reportedly took place in Payson Arizona, not here at Payson High School in Utah.

The SafeUT app is a statewide Crisis and Text Tip Line Service that allows students to connect with real-time licensed clinicians to report any kind of crisis, from lose animals, to abuse, to depression and suicidal thoughts -- on a free app. SafeUT has tons of unique and easy to use features.


The CrisisLine Connects the caller to a certified counselor who is trained to help people through difficult mental and emotional problems like depression and suicidal thoughts.

Waived fees and waffles to highlight Payson High’s College Day

College Day is Wednesday, October 5 from 3:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. A total of 32 colleges, universities, trade and technical schools from all over Utah are coming to Payson High to help students apply to their institutions. Some of the application fees are WAIVED only for that night. F.A.F.S.A. (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) will also be there to help you sign up for their program. Be sure to take advantage of all of these opportunities! Waffle Love and BBQ Truck will be attending as well to provide refreshments for the night.
