Payson High School’s Future Farmers of America hosted the 2018 Sweethearts assembly on Feb. 16. The assembly thrilled students for the dance that took place the following Saturday. The student-packed auditorium got together to see the nominated contestants sell cakes and get crowned.
Matthew Tervort, FFA vice-president, was the auctioneer for the day. Overall, $1540 were raised from all of the cakes, including three bought by the student council. Claire Rowley’s “Beauty and The Beast” themed cake was voted the best and sold for $350. In the end, Sweethearts royalty was crowned. Myranda Goodworth was second attendant, Cambrielle Fitzwater first attendant, and Claire Rowley was crowned as Sweethearts Queen. Rowley said, “It was fun, I got to try out new things and I’m just glad I did it.” Cakes, money and royalty: the assembly was a great way to end the week and prepare students for the upcoming dance.
