PHS is very excited to announce that our new head football coach will be Coach Arnold Ale. Coach Ale (pronounced “Ah-leh”) comes to us from Los Angeles, CA, where he has served his community as the former head football coach and athletic director at Carson High School, among others. Coach Ale also has experience coaching at the collegiate and professional levels, having coached for Los Angeles Harbor College, Long Beach City College, San Jose State University, and the Cincinnati Bengals.

Payson High is excited to announce that the valedictorian for the class of 2022 is Emily Morrill. And the salutatorian is Emily Knapp. They have excelled tremendously in their academic accomplishments. And they will both speak at our graduation ceremony on May 26.  Congratulations to these two Emilies!

Payson High School is thrilled to announce the appointment of Coach Jeremy Barber as our new head coach of the Girls Tennis Team. Our previous head coach, Coach Kris McDougal, has resigned in order to focus on her retirement pursuits. And we are very grateful for her dedicated service to our school and community.

Payson High School is thrilled to announce the appointment of Coach David Kindrick as our new head coach of the Girls Soccer Team. Our previous head coach, Coach Ciera Ward, has resigned in order to focus on her growing family.

Emily Morrill and Allie Young competed in the state Science Olympiad competition on Saturday (April 9) and won first place in the forensics competition. Congratulations! We are proud of our Lion Science Olympiads. 

Most high schools in our area (including PHS) have a “college access advisor” who works alongside our counseling department. They are recent college graduates who are hired through the University of Utah and then placed in selected high schools around the state. College advisers seek to help more Utah students attend college. Working alongside school staff, advisers assist students with navigating the college admissions process.

Nebo School District Spring Break is next week, April 4-8. We will see you back at school on April 11! We are excited to finish the school year STRONG. Enjoy your break, Lions!
