Weekly Kindness Challenge: Compliment Someone

Submitted by katie.kelly on

Beginning this week, our school Newspaper staff would like to issue a "Weekly Kindness Challenge" to the students at Payson High School. This week their challenge is to compliment someone.

We all love to receive compliments or hear words of encouragement, but how often are we offering those kind words? That's the challenge! Whether you compliment someone on their smile, their shoes, or their willingness to help a neighbor in math class, a compliment can go a long way and make someone's day.

Stay tuned for next week's challenge.

We are very proud of our students, Daxon Geldmacher and Melissa Ward, who were both recently published in Utah Valley University magazines.

Daxon Geldmacher was one of around 4 high school students to get their short story published in Utah Valley University’s “Warp & Weave” magazine. Daxon heard about this chance to be published by his teacher, Mrs. Parker.

December 18th, this upcoming Wednesday is student teacher conferences. School will be out at 2:00 p.m. and students will have an opportunity to stay after school and talk to their teachers and get work done until 4:00 p.m. Not only can you get help from your teacher but if you go you can also get detention hours. With the end of the term sneaking up on us, this is a great opportunity to get all your work done. Make sure to be there if you have work to get done or need any help from your teachers!

Every Friday our principal, Dr. Shepherd presents an award to a few "Lions of the Week". This week Sam Mitchell, Bill Pyne, and Trey Hiatt were recognized. Sam is an outstanding member of our basketball team and helped our team make it to the championship game in a recent tournament in Las Vegas. He also hasn't missed a free throw so far this season! Bill Pyne has had a great rodeo season and is currently ranked 5th in the state. We look forward to watching him when rodeo starts back up again in April.
