Jessi Hoschouer is an amazing person in many different ways, she doesn’t let anything stop her from enjoying life, including her battle with Alopecia. For those of you who don’t know what Alopecia is, it’s the partial or complete absence of hair on the body where it normally grows. Only 1.9% of the worldwide population have or will develop Alopecia at some point in their lives. Jessi learned that she had Alopecia when she was five years old. Then, she didn’t fully understand what it was and now that she does, it’s not something to put a bump in the road.

 Congratulations to Payson High School’s Latio’s in Action (LIA) adviser and math teacher, Mrs. Blackham (formerly known as Ms. Whitbeck), for winning the Utah LIA Teacher of the Month and Payson High’s Spirit of the Lion Award.  

Payson High School’s marketing club, DECA is inviting the people of Payson High to a Utah Jazz game that will take place on January 18 at 3:30pm. DECA members will be selling Jazz tickets during the week of January 14th. Whoever wants to buy a jazz ticket doesn’t have to buy the tickets from a DECA member, however, since they are also being sold at the finance office. The thing that Jazz-enthusiasts should be most excited for is that those who go to the game get to see the players warm up on the basketball court.

On Wednesday, March 13 from 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm at the Utah Valley Convention Center located at 220 W Center St in Provo, Utah will be the Utah Valley Job Fair.  This is the best place to find a new or better job.  Bring many copies of your resume, dress professionally and be prepared to talk to hiring representatives. Welcome to 2019! There are only a few days left in Term 2. In an effort to give students some extra time to improve grades, we have scheduled mini student/teacher conferences on Thursday, January 3 from 2-4 pm. We will release students from school at 2 pm so they can meet with any of their teachers. Buses will run at their regularly scheduled time.

This holiday season, we have a special treat for everyone. It is a special double issue of the online magazine. That's right, every student worked on two stories for the past month and a half. What you see is everything that the students have worked on and submitted. Like always, everything is student created, filmed, written, edited, and designed. We hope you enjoy.

Payson High's Latino's in Action Club (LIA) has been working diligently over the past few weeks to collect letters for Macy's department store and the Make a Wish Foundation.  As a school 4,738 letters were collected and as a district 38,116 were collected. Macy's will donate $1 per letter to make wishes come true for children.

On Dec. 13, 2018, Payson High School, along with other schools in the district, were encouraged to buckle their seatbelts, and be safe. After school, patrol officers and student council members were stationed at the exits of the parking lot. In their hands were candy canes to give to those who were buckled up! This was to help students be safely buckled, and encourage being buckled when in the car, especially around this time of year.
