Bernie Evans served in the Korean War as a member of the United States Navy, on the U.S.S. Tolovana. After the service, he graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in industrial arts and math. He loved being an educator in Nebo School District for 33 years. His personal motto was taken from Abraham Lincoln who said:

Be proud of the place in which you live. And live each day in such a manner as your place will be proud of you.

Bernie used his skills and talents to quietly give back to his community in many ways. Most notably, he served the Payson community as a member of the Payson City Council and as Mayor.
